The Business Basics and the Ministry of Business Innovation & Employment (MBIE) Business Plan template are useful for those seeking a full business plan template if you are starting a business, growing your current business or seeking external investment for lending.
For a preliminary business plan check out the CUBE Business Basics Guide and Template. If you want to prepare a comprehensive business plan, use the MBIE Business Plan Template.
MBIE Assessment Tools & Calculators
The Ministry of Business Innovation & Employment (MBIE) have a fantastic selection of assessment tools and calculators on their website. You can enter your information and the tools compile them into useful documents. The tools include generating a Business Idea Action Plan, Financial Viability Action Plan, a Feasibility & Risk Checker, Break Even calculators and advice on steps to starting a business. If you are starting a business this is a MUST SEE website!
A really great tool MBIE has is ONECHECK, where you can just insert a business name and you will automatically find out if that name is being used as a business, any trademarks, what web domains are available and other great information.
Regional Business Partner Network
The Regional Business Partner Network helps New Zealand businesses innovate and grow by making it easier to access early stage business support. The network is supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) and Callaghan Innovation. The RBP Programme in Otago is administered by advisors from The Otago Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise Dunedin and Otago Southland Employers Association. The CUBE will work with Upper Clutha businesses to introduce them to RBP business advisors operating in Otago or businesses can contact these RBP advisors directly through the contact details presented in the document below.
Importantly, to gain access to potential assistance you must register your business with the Regional Business Partners.
