Entrepreneur Scholarship Winner Announced at Entrepreneur Speaker Series

Keynote speaker Kurt Rodgers, Futurist at Chorus enthralled the audience with his presentation titled DIGITAL DISRUPTION – THE 5 KEY TECHNOLOGY TRENDS THAT WILL CHANGE THE WORLD last Thursday night at the fourth session of the Entrepreneur Speaker Series.  Kurt brought to life a look into the current and future, with a down to earth assessment of some of the key digital developments already with us or on their way in the near future.

Kurt was joined by panelists Peter Harris (Economic Development Manager at QLDC), Bonnie Crawshaw-McLean (MAC student) and James Docking (Director at Gentrack) for a lively discussion on key topics of the night, that was hosted by Richard Liew (NZ Entrepreneur Magazine).

The evening was rounded out with the annoucement of the Entrepreneur Scholarship winner.  The Scholarship package included a $2,000 fund, mentoring opportunities with Chorus and the CUBE Business Mentors Initiative, free membership to Ignite Wanaka and a swag of other great benefits.

There was an outstanding response to the Scholarship and the entries received were of a very high calibre.  The three finalists were the pairings of Nick Stevenson & Candice Warren and Anna van Riel & Marieke Miller and Claire Iredale.

Kim Stewart of Chorus commended all the finalists and then announced the Scholarship winner, Claire Iredale of Wild Diamond Botanical Spirits.  Wild Diamond is a craft micro-distillery manufacturing botanical spirits and the judges liked the local nature of the business and the fact it would not only draw in locals, but also visitors.

Congratulations to Claire and the other finalists, who received prizes of air travel from Air New Zealand.
