Startup Weekend is "Transformative" For your Career
For many, Startup Weekend is a life-changing experience. We asked Billy Waller, a participant in our Startup Weekend Dunedin 2018 Roadtrip, to share his experience.
"Going into Startup Weekend, I had no idea what to expect. I had seen a Facebook post about it and was just intrigued enough to check it out.
I had an idea that I wanted to pitch, but after listening to a lot of the other pitches on Friday night, I thought it would be fun to work on someone else's concept. The high energy of the event, the caliber of mentors, and the capability of other participants made this a largely transformative and progressive weekend for me.
I couldn't be happier that I committed to going. It was well worth the ticket price.
A year down the line, I am still working on a business with one of the people from my group, and network with many of the others that attended the event. I would say the biggest things I've gained from Startup weekend was how to quickly structure, pivot, and test ideas (in a highly time-sensitive environment) as well as the fantastic networking opportunities.
Moving forward, I feel confident that I can test and determine the viability of an idea at least 5 times faster and more accurately than I would have been able to before. If you haven't signed up for Startup Weekend yet, you've got to get off the fence. It will change your life."
