Startup Queenstown Lakes, in cooperation with Creative HQ LIghtning Lab Accelerator and QLDC, is conducting a 1-hour briefing for tourism and hospitality industry executives to get up to speed on what's coming down the pipeline in terms of innovation in the district and nationally.
"There are a lot of exciting initiatives underway that aren't on most people's radar," said James Burnes, CEO at Startup Queenstown Lakes. "Many of these programs are launching in the next 60 to 90 days and it's important that industry executives in our community get in the loop so they can decide how and where to participate."
What will be discussed?
Topics for the briefing include:
- A new Tourism Accelerator operated by Lightning Lab and Creative HQ.
A seed and venture capital fund is being created for tourism and adventure tech innovations- A Tourism Challenges Forum at the Headwaters in Glenorchy will identify commercially solvable problems
- Collaboration coworking space for new tech initiatives
To ensure as many executives in the industry can attend as possible, Startup Queenstown Lakes is hosting three sessions across the region on Wednesday, 20
- Queenstown: 9 to 10 a.m. at Yonder
- Cromwell: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., TBA in the CBD

Who should attend?
The session is geared to owner/director/executives of companies in the tourism, hospitality, and adventure space who's organization is investing in innovation and technology.
Larger operators are encouraged to bring along team members leading innovation, product development, technology, and strategy. "While the program is intended for executive leadership, we welcome anyone who's working to solve problems and interested in launching new tech, R&D, and disruption," said Burnes.
